Motorola Droid 3: Coming Soon?
The call that helped turn Mechanical man into a household key may soon have a groomed new sibling.
A fresh correct of leaked images is fueling speculation that Motorola's Droid 3 smartphone could be nearing its release. The images popped au courant the site of a raiseable phone parts dealer this week and were sullied by the gumshoes over at Droid-Life.com.
The photos show a phone similar in design to the new Droid and the follow-up Droid 2 and Droid 2 Global — simply with just about notable improvements. The device delineate has a 4-edge in riddle compared to the previous models' 3.7-inch displays. It also gains a front-facing camera and an updated design, with a flatter and more undifferentiated front.
So is this in truth the Motorola Droid 3, and will we really encounter it anytime before long? At this point, your guess is as good As mine. There's sure No official information from Verizon Beaver State Motorola yet — heck, neither company has even acknowledged that the phone exists — but this latest leak does match up with previous clues about the device.
Back in March, someone posted photos of a phone same to be the Droid 3 to Howard Forums, a best-selling raisable user profession. Those images look very similar to the new ones launch now. One of them shows a revamped QWERTY keyboard with five rows, including ane dedicated exclusively to numbers.
In Feb, meanwhile, tipsters told Humanoid web log Phandroid.com that the Droid 3 would feature a 4-inch screen with 960-by-540 result. They reported that the earpiece would launch sometime in the bit canton of the twelvemonth — in new words, inside the next two months.
Consider, too, that many owners of the original Droid are approximately to become eligible for handset upgrades. With Verizon's typical two-class sign — which actually allows you to upgrade after 20 months — anyone World Health Organization bought the for the first time Droid when it launched in November of '09 would be able to get a new discounted phone this coming July. Given the popularity of the original Droid, it'd certainly make horse sense for Verizon to set in motion a similar but significantly improved framework around that same metre.
For now, though, we'Ra leftover with more questions than answers. Volition the Droid 3 have a double-core central processor? Will it ship with Android 2.3, aka Gingerbread, or will it watch in the footsteps of phones look-alike the T-Rotatable G2X and ship with Android 2.2 and an climb promise? Or, heck, could it comprise the first ring to plunge with the side by side version of Android — the one we think will be called Ice Cream Sandwich? You ne'er know.
Past at that place are the slightly geeky burning questions that could produce or break the Droid 3 for many new Droid owners: Will the phone run an unmodified stock version of Google's Mechanical man software program? And will IT feature an unlocked bootloader — a note that allows superpowe users to pull in body access and prepar advanced modifications?
For now, my friends, all we can do is watch and time lag — and go for.
